Is your child eligible for $1000 worth of free dental care?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule has now replaced Teen Dental Vouchers, and at Kitchener Street Dental located in Toowoomba, your child may be eligible for $1000 worth of dental care over two years!

New changes mean that the Australian Government is now helping more than 3 million children access the dental treatment they need and deserve through a scheme called The Child Dental Benefits Schedule. This new Medicare funded scheme commenced in January 2014.

Who is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

Children between the ages of 2-17 are eligible if they have parents in receipt of the Family Tax Benefit A or any of the following payments:

  • ABSTUDY
  • Youth Allowance
  • Parenting Payment
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Special Benefit
  • Carer Payment
  • Double Orphan Pension
  • Veteran’s Children Education Scheme, if the child is 16 or over
  • Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme, if the child is 16 or over

How long does the Child Dental Benefits Schedule last?

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule allows for $1000 worth of dental care over two years, with this period commencing at the start of the calendar year – not from the first appointment date. Patients may use their full benefits budget within the first year, however in these cases additional benefits will not be made available in the second year.

What dental care does the Child Dental Benefits Schedule Cover?

At Kitchener Street Dental, we offer the following treatments covered by the Child Dental Benefits Schedule:

  • Dental check-ups
  • Teeth cleaning
  • X-rays
  • Fillings
  • Fissure seals
  • Extractions
  • Root canal treatment
  • Partial dentures

Will I have to pay any gaps with the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?

Our dental professionals at Kitchener Street Dental bulk bill examinations and preventive procedures under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, which means that eligible children will not incur any out-of-pocket expenses for any of these types of procedures. The only circumstance where you will have to pay additional fees is when you exceed the capped limit of $1000 within the two year CDBS period.
