Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers Toowoomba

Made from strong porcelain materials, veneers can correct a great number of cosmetic concerns.

Veneers are designed to cover the imperfections of the smile without giving them an unnatural appearance. Find out what porcelain veneers are, how porcelain veneers can help you and the treatment procedure at Kitchener Dental.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are designed to cover the visible part of the tooth. They are fabricated from long lasting materials and can be colour matched to your cosmetic preferences.

How porcelain veneers can help you with your cosmetic concerns

They can help to mask a number of different cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Broken teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Oddly shaped teeth
  • Short or long teeth

Teeth that are relatively strong can be cosmetically restored using a porcelain veneer treatment. They can also be applied where minor misalignments or gaps are a concern, covering up the gap between teeth by widening the width of the veneer as an alternative to braces.

The porcelain veneers procedure

A porcelain veneer treatment generally requires two appointments. Although, at Kitchener Street Dental we can cosmetically enhance your smile with veneers in a single appointment using CEREC. Thanks to this state-of-the-art technology, your porcelain veneer treatment will generally be carried out using the following method:

  1. Your dentist will assess your smile and provide you with any information you want or need. This will include any risks associated with the treatment, how long the treatment will last and the care factors that you need to know post-treatment.
  2. Carefully, your dentist will remove a slight amount of the natural enamel from the teeth being treated. This is necessary to allow room for the restoration to fit comfortably on your teeth while still being strong enough to last a long time.
  3. Once your teeth are prepared, your dentist will take a mould of your teeth and fabricate the new veneers to suit your desires in the CEREC same-day restorations machine.
  4. Your veneers will be gently bonded to your teeth using a special dental bonding solution to hold them in place for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cosmetic issues can porcelain veneers address?

Porcelain veneers can effectively address a range of cosmetic issues, including severe discolouration that doesn't respond to whitening, chipped or worn teeth, minor misalignment, small gaps between teeth, irregularly shaped teeth, and minor bite issues. Veneers can provide a dramatic improvement in the appearance of the smile by covering these imperfections with custom-made shells of porcelain that match the colour and shape of the natural teeth. This cosmetic solution can enhance the overall symmetry, colour, and alignment of the teeth, creating a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing smile.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Porcelain veneers are durable and can last for 10–15 years or more with proper care. However, their lifespan can vary depending on factors such as oral hygiene practices, habits like teeth grinding or biting on hard objects, and regular dental check-ups. It's important to follow good oral hygiene habits, avoid behaviours that can damage the veneers, and visit your dentist regularly for check-ups and maintenance to prolong the lifespan of your veneers.

How do I care for porcelain veneers?

To care for porcelain veneers, maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily. Use non-abrasive toothpaste and avoid chewing on hard objects to prevent damage. If you grind your teeth at night, consider wearing a mouthguard. Limit consumption of staining foods and drinks and attend regular dental check-ups and cleanings. Promptly address any issues with your veneers, such as chips or damage, by seeing your dentist for repair. These steps can help ensure the longevity and appearance of your porcelain veneers.
